Bring Me The Horizon Live @ Riverstage

I have been pumping Bring Me The Horizon’s latest album ‘That’s The Spirit’ since its release in September 2015 and for almost as long I had been eagerly awaiting this tour and it was everything I wanted it to be.

In case you were wondering.. Who is Bring Me The Horizon? Then stop right there, have you been living under a rock? They are a good looking 5 piece hardcore band from England who formed in 2004 and have since killing it ever since.

Bring it on Bring Me! There is something so lovely and different about hardcore shows that you will never understand unless you attend them. Almost everybody is down to earth and there for a good time, don’t get me wrong you will come across the odd dick head but overall hardcore kids are friends for life. Scanning the Riverstage and seeing some of the most dedicated fans around the lights came on the decked elevated LED light stage became home to everything we had been waiting for.. BRING ME THE HORIZON!

Opening with one of their most popular new tracks Happy we were immediately drawn to the huge S-P-I-R-I-T on the screen behind the stage as a frenzy of screaming fans through their fists to the sky. Confetti was flying out into the crowd and smoke blew from canisters on the stage in time with Oli as he punched the beat into the air.

“Let’s open this place up, open it up” the crowd pushed left to right just before the breakdown in track Shadow Moses as the infamous circle pits and walls of death that BMTH feed off started amidst the crowd. “This is Sempiternal” Sykes barley required a microphone half the time as the packed out Riverstage crowd yelled every lyric back with full force and dedication.

Every track produced by BMTH is worthy of a good sing along or a mosh. The highlights were defiantly Throne, Go To Hell For Heavens Sake, Can You Feel My Heart and Spirit… Wait scratch that, every bloody track they played was perfectly executed and made the crowd go insane.

Making sure their show was just as exciting and powerful as their tunes, BMTH had an insane light show, a massive screen that streamed videos, album covers and lyrics as well as an array of fire works that blew little lights of fire over the band.

Antivist pumped the testosterone in all of us as middle fingers were raised to the sky and a sea of people moved around the mosh like quioy fish on speed. According to Sykes this was the biggest show BMTH had ever played outside of England and if that isn’t a true indication of the dedication of Australian fans towards the Hardcore scene I don’t know what is.

Screaming for an encore Bring Me returned to the stage to play Throne & Drown before a massive array of confetti and screamers blew over the sweaty and exhausted crowd and they thanked the crowd one more time and left the stage.

For me, after watching many live videos of Bring Me on various tours the show was going to either way. Horrible or Fantastic, and thankfully Oli and the rest of the band brought the f**** S-P-I-R-I-T!!!
