Mike Noga Signs To Cooking Vinyl, Announced New Concept Album

Former drummer for the The Drones and solo artist Mike Noga has announced his signing to record label Cooking Vinyl Australia and psychedelic concept album ‘King’ to be released on August 26.

‘King’ will be Mike’s third studio album and was produced by Paul Dempsey and features narration from Game Of Thrones and Almost Famous actor Noah Taylor. Loosely based on George Büchner’s famous 1830’s play ‘Woyzeck’, the album have been described as dark, psychedelic and at some times creepy.

While living in London in 2014, Mike was asked by immersive theatre company ‘Punchdrunk’ to pen music in response to their latest production ‘The Drowned Man’ (itself loosely based on Woyzeck). Realising his vision for an ambitious rock and roll album with strong narrative and immersive elements, Mike decided to continue the story he started that day and spent the next year in North London working on what would eventually become ‘King’.

“Mary lives on the outskirts of town, in the house that her and Jack used to call “home”. She dreams. Small dreams. Dreams of red curtains, a sleeping baby. Valentine’s Day. Jack doesn’t live here anymore. He spends his days at the factory. His nights are visited by terrible visions. A plague of nightmares. He once thought he saw a man standing just there…. something’s not right.” – Mike Noga, KING
