The Faction is having it’s first birthday Tuesday 28th August – and to celebrate, it is throwing a Birthday Party at Brisbane’s Home of Heavy, Crowbar! You might ask – why a Tuesday night? Well, The Faction launched on August 28th 2017, giving Australia a 24 hour a day, 7 day a week online radio station, app and community. And what could make this night better you ask? Well its bloody free entry and 18+.
The night will feature a bunch of special guest DJ sets (to be revealed!), birthday cake, Heavy Metal themed cocktails and prizes to be raffled off. As well as that… later that night, there might just be special appearances by some HUGE rock musicians in the bar…!
The Faction has exploded in its first year of existence. The radio stream boasts over 200k streams per month across all platforms that it can be heard on, close to 7000 app downloads, near on 5000 likes on facebook, a presence at the inaugural Download Festival in Australia, the station is truly becoming a force in Heavy Music in Australia. March 2018 saw a WILDLY successful launch of the annual Hardest 100 countdown (with Architects’ massive track Doomsday taking out the “Hardest song of all time” for the debut event).
The station has featured more than 50 feature albums & EPs, more than 500 songs that have made it to High Rotation, and interviews with artists like Stone Sour, Prophets of Rage, Parkway Drive, Tonight Alive, Ecca Vandal, Sevendust, TesseracT, Underoath, Trivium, Sepultura, Polaris, AFI and so many more. The station has consistently boasted over 30% female voices/artists in the playlists and plays far beyond any Australian artist quotas.
