Requiem Drops New Single ‘Treading Water’

From recording demos onto CDRs for mates at school, to supporting some of the biggest names in Australian Hip-Hop, Requiem is back at it again with his new single Treading Water.

Darwin based emcee has teamed up with the gorgeous Kathryn Rollins out of Melbourne to create this moody and hypnotic track Treading Water with a music video to accompany. Following up from his acclaimed album ‘Louvres’, Requiem has stepped into something a little more personal with the lyrics reflecting on anxiety and control.

Kathryn’s voice simmers over the top of a the electronic trance background while Requiem hits us hard with his clear and punchy rap vocals. This new track has been described as an “internal battle of panic and uncertainty” and if the vocals weren’t convincing enough the video reflects this message as well.

One man in a boat at night struggling to find his way with one paddle, that in itself is a cry for help.

Having supported the likes of Drapht, Illy, Seth Sentry and more, Requiem was granted the opportunity to work with renowned producer Cam Bluff (Hilltop Hoods, Illy, Allday).

Thus taking his music to the next level, Treading Water is a perfect example of what Requiem dialled up to 100 is capable of.
